Wedding Venues listed on this site are referred to as Approved Wedding Venues or Licensed Wedding Venues. They have been granted the license to hold marriages and civil ceremonies by the Registration Service and the Local Authority. This means that as well as holding your wedding  reception at the venue, you can also have your marriage ceremony there which means a lot less organising of transportation etc. on the day.

You can choose from around 4000 of these Licensed places and Register Offices within England and Wales for your wedding without having to set up residence in the registration district in which the Approved Venue is.

A
residency requirement is however still needed in order to give your 'Notice of Marriage'

The site has been developed to offer information on all of those available venues where you can also hold the wedding or other civil ceremony which requires a licence.

As well as being able to hold wedding ceremonies the venues are also able to hold other civil ceremonies, including: civil partnerships, vow renewals and baby naming ceremonies on behalf of the Registration Service and Local Authority.

The venues include amongst others:Stately homes, Historic buildings, Hotels, Register Offices, Pubs, Restaurants, Sports Centers, Castles, and even more unusual ones such as the London Eye, Chester Zoo, Poldark Mine, Pinewood Film Studios, Birmingham, Liverpool or Manchester Football Clubs, Polhawn Fort, Hastings Pier, Cheltenham Racecourse, Centre Parcs in Suffolk, on the H.M.S.Trincomalee or the HMS Belfast, on Concorde at Manchester,or in Willesborough Windmill Kent, providing you with a huge choice and a variety of settings for your wedding.

Although currently wedding ceremonies are not allowed to take place outdoors or in temporary or moveable structures such as marquees or boats, certain venues do have permanent constructions outdoors i.e. pergolas, gazebos etc. which are licensed.

Currently we have around 4,000 venues listed in the database which are all licensed to hold wedding (Civil marriage) ceremonies on their premises.
